Childcare and Early Years Documentary Screening and Q&A

DATE: TBC JANUARY 2025 / TIME: 19.00 - 20.00 / LOCATION:

Ritzy Brixton SW2 1JG

In 2023, Mill Road were commissioned to make a short documentary launch film for the Early Education and Childcare Coalition (EECC), a newly formed group of organisations including Oxfam, Save The Children, Pregnant Then Screwed, The Federation of Small Businesses and many more.

‘Further Together’ was produced with contributions from some of the most influential voices in the Early Years Sector, including Neil Leitch OBE, CEO of the Early Years Alliance – and Professor Eva Lloyd OBE, Emirates Professor of Early Childhood at the University of East London.

We will be holding a special screening of the 20 minute documentary followed by a Q&A with members of the coalition and also with the production and post-production team who made sure the subject of Childcare and Early Years Education reached the hearts of those who could make a difference.

Human rights in the UK are deteriorating. Millions of people are struggling to access basic needs like safe housing, food and healthcare – and they are dying as a result. Still, most of the British public aren’t paying attention. To get them to tune in, creative agency Shape History launched something people can’t get enough of: a trailer for a new gritty British drama starring Olivia Colman and Adrian Lester, called “Before Our Eyes.” Shown in cinemas across the country, they got the audience hooked on a harrowing tale about a young mother's fight for justice after her daughter's death in their temporary accommodation. But this isn't drama. It's real life.

Shape History is the social impact communications agency. Born in 2015 out of a desire to do comms differently, the agency has worked across the globe to make a fairer world, faster. They don’t just do social impact, they live and breathe it, and are home to experts in insight led strategy, creative campaigns, purpose brands and more.

Zoë Dawson is Shape History's Associate Creative Director. After starting her career in advertising, she moved to Shape History mid 2020 so that she could use her storytelling skills for social impact, every day. With a particular passion for screenwriting and telling stories through video,  Zoë has worked with organisations like WWF, Save the Children, the WHO and, most recently, Amnesty International, where she was behind the new 'Before Our Eyes' film.
