Many of the campaigns our films have featured in have succeeded in driving policy and legislative change.

Mill Road have made all of the films for the Flex Appeal campaign, founded by Anna Whitehouse of Mother Pukka and funded by Sir Robert McAlpine. In April 2024 it was announced that the Flexible Working Bill has now become law so that all workers will be given the legal right to request flexible working from day one. This change will enable more people with caring responsibilities, chronic illnesses and disabilities to enter the workforce whilst potentially unlocking £55bn in benefits to the economy.

Our extensive work alongside charities such as the Early Education and Childcare Coalition and Pregnant Then Screwed has contributed to the topic of Childcare and the Early Years sector remaining a government priority since the 2023 spring budget. See the Gov.uk policy paper.

Our Process

Mill Road is all about harnessing the power of film to drive positive action, to influence behaviour change and to genuinely impact people.

We are filmmakers who understand that in order to change behaviour, disrupt a mindset and hold people’s attention, we first need to understand the target audience. Although there are things that connect us all as humans and techniques that will work broadly - we also know that demographic-specific knowledge is important as we storyboard.

We also spend time researching belief systems, looking at data from the advertising and neuromarketing worlds on emotional response, memory recall and brand impact . This insight combined with our commitment to the highest production value ensures our films are always felt deeply by the viewer in a way that results in tangible action.
